Beware of the dishonest who continually seek new ways to SCAM you!
This is one of several phone scams active at this time, please do not give personal information over the phone. Legitimate companies or government offices will contact you by mail if there is an issue to resolve. If you do receive a call claiming to be the Social Security Administration or IRS, it has been advised that you just hang up. If someone calls claiming your friend or relative has been arrested and needs bail, hang up and call your local police to search the issue. Several have been a target of this scam as well. Please do not allow evil to get a reward, be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.
From the Office Of The Attorney General.
Scammers are posing as the Social Security Administration claiming social security numbers have been compromised. They are seeking to gain access to your social security number.
Hang up! Do not provide personal information or payment.
The scammers may have a realistic-looking number for Social Security Administration on Caller ID.
Please help us stop these scams by sharing the information with someone you know. If you have questions about this scam, or have provided sensitive personal information or money to the scammers, please call the Consumer Assistance Program at 800-649-2424.
