Kill The Thoughts Not Yourself

How To Defeat Distress And Find Peace

All around us perfectly healthy people are dying, and the culprit is stress.

The national suicide rate is climbing during the Covid-19 outbreak. Some are taking family members on their death march, as murder-suicide is also on the rise.

You do not need to be a victim of your thoughts, you need to be the victor!

It seems money is a big concern at this time, but allow me to assure you that millionaires were made during the Great Depression. Help is available for the recently unemployed, and businesses that would otherwise fold. Mortgage lenders are willing to refinance or suspend foreclosures, evictions have been suspended. If you feel you have nothing to live for because you risk loosing your fortune, you must look at what your life is truly worth. I know it is easy for me to say, because I have no fortune to loose. But rich or poor I know that you can not find anything in this world more precious than life.

If you are having thoughts of suicide it is not a sign of weakness to reach out for help. There are times you will see no way out of the mess you are in, because you can not see tomorrow.. How many people have ended their life for temporary problems that could soon be remedied?

Life is one of the hardest battles we will face, changes come and nothing is assured. If you are battling with your thoughts of the future, here are some steps you can take.

First, turn off the news! it is a constant overkill of negativity and despair.

Write a note to yourself penning your biggest fears at this point.. If it is finances, take the steps to research your options. If it is the stock market woes, consider a specialist who can advise you how to recover your assets in time. This article gives you tips on how to invest during a down fall. If you own a business, take the steps to apply for the business relief loan. Contact the Small Business Association in your state to see how they are handling the process. Take the time to list the material items you could sell after the woes are over. There are many people who were once Millionaires and lost everything, yet still found a glimmer of hope.. Musicians and movie stars that went from riches to rags, settled in to a new life despite uncomfortable changes. It can happen if you allow it!

Are you afraid of contacting the virus? make a list of proven ways you can protect yourself and others. Avoid social media that is laden with bad news, or anything that enhances your fears. There are many stories of people who contracted the virus and survived. I only go out for food, and take all the precautions, including washing my groceries!

Without knowing your greatest fears I can not compile an exhaustive list. I can only offer you a ray of hope, by assuring you that we can cope, if we change our way of thinking. Reach out to those who care, call a friend who is known to cheer you up. If you can not reach a friend, the National Suicide Hotline is there 24/7 to help. 1800- 273- 8255. Listening to soothing music can help turn off those excessive thoughts that keep churning in your mind..

I am one who feels that peace can be found in Jesus Christ. He believed your life was worth more than anything the world contained, so He gave His life for yours. There is hope for any situation if you allow Him to work in your life. The rich and famous have confessed that despite their fame and fortune, they are empty inside. How could this be? We were created to have a connection to the Creator, and when that connection is void, He does not force His way in. Like the man knocking at your door, if you do not answer he remains outside, unable to reach you. I realize this seems like rubbish to those who do not believe in the after life, or God’s existence.. It is still my hope that you find peace through this storm, and realize that survival is not only for the fittest.. it is also for the weak who can gather strength from others who care.

The Language Of Love

heart-534793_640There is one language anyone can understand..

Imagine being a polyglot, you could travel without hiring a translator, watch a movie with subtitles off, and read a foreign novel with ease. There are many beautiful languages in the world and some make it their passion to learn them.

Rojas-Berscia is a hyperpolyglot, who speaks twenty-two languages, and is on a quest to learn more. Presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg, speaks eight languages, and has gained attention for his ability to converse with the crowd. However I am more like Ursula in Ladies In Lavender, when trying to speak Polish, puppy dog was on the dinner menu.

Although I speak English, I have found anyone can understand the language of love. A soft smile, warm handshake, and a peaceful spirit can be translated by anyone.

Love Is Here

  Offering a home..

Providing knowledge for a brighter future..

Teaching moral values while they are young..

Not forsaking orphans and widows..

Feeding the hungry..

Gifts of kindness..

Nurturing strengths and talents..

Counseling for broken hearts and inner wounds..

I am thankful to those who have given to the India Home.. You help love grow 🙂

Knowledge Is Power! ~India~

“Education breeds confidence. Confidence breeds hope. Hope breeds peace.”
– Confucius-

For nearly two years I have been writing about the orphanage in India, but there is something I have come realize, it is not an orphanage at all.. it is home!

Anyone who works with children can say, “it takes a gift or a calling”. Patients and understanding will build love and confidence. These children who once lived on the streets will have the chance every child deserves.

For India’s street children, education is secondary in daily life, if at all. They do not have anyone to ensure they attend school, and no truancy officers taking them by the ear. They simply fall through the cracks of the ICPS, and the Juvenile Protective Care Act. In fact the government does not have an official estimate of street children. India has the highest number of child laborers, and street children spend their time forging the city landfills, or “ragging” to make an income. Those who do attend school, do not have the same opportunity as children from the “upper class”.

Since Praveen has taken the children into his home, they have been loved and nurtured, and have become part of the family. Life on the streets for a child, comes with many wounds. This healing process takes time, and can be difficult to break through. The children were behind in their studies, and are receiving the help they need. In their home, there is no “caste system” they all have equal opportunity to advance in life, and be educated.

In India girls face discrimination, and are not educated equally. The family’s of lower caste, feel their daughter will enter an arranged marriage and is not worth the cost of tuition. Illiteracy is extremely high among the female population. At home the girls and boy’s, are being taught to read, and speak English as a second language. Although they attend public school, the family also helps with their studies, as any caring parent  would. Each child has their own unique talents, and they are encouraged to use them. The children join in singing, and performing plays for Sunday service.

Praveen and his father Ratna Kumar, hope to one day open a Bible college, where students who can not afford local tuition, can advance their studies. For now they are gaining experience through hands on education.

At the home area children are welcome to attend Sunday school, where Praveen reports they are eager to learn. The children are growing and gaining knowledge, that will help them throughout their life. There they are building relationships with others who will treat them with kindness, not judgement based upon their birth.

Thank you for reading, thank you for caring 🙂

Pre- Abortion Counseling at Iganga!

Caring guidance preserves life!

Although Uganda has abortion restrictions, they are performed daily.

[1] 1.2 Million Ugandan woman face unwanted pregnancy each year, in which 26% lead in abortion. Woman living in rural communities are at further risk of having complications during an abortion procedure. Many clinics refer woman to pre- abortion counseling before they agree to perform the procedure.

David Kisaame, of Iganga Crisis Pregnancy Center, fills this need with gladness!

In a recent testimony, David shared how he counseled an unnamed couple, who sought an abortion of their seventh child. Being a pastor, David went to the Bible, and shared how sacred life is to God. Many who come to the pregnancy center, know nothing about God or the Bible. David reads scripture that shows, life begins at conception. The worries that this couple faced, is shared by all the others who came before them. This couple felt that one more mouth to feed, would be far to difficult. David shared many events of hardship from the Bible, and how the Lord gave them all strength to gain victory. Using wisdom like Solomon, David asked the question, ” Having six children, and one in the womb, which brings you more burden to sustain”? They replied “the six”. Jokingly, David said ” Then why not get rid of  the six, and keep the one in your womb”?. Of course, they refused, yet understood what David was implying.. If it is impossible to kill your six children, why kill the one yet to be born.

Ultimately it is the mothers decision, but David aims to be sure they are fully aware of what is to come. Many times, when someone knows there is an another answer, they feel more at peace keeping their child.

This story ended well! after counseling, the couple decided to keep their child. Months passed, and a man entered David’s office to share the news of how grateful he was to receive harsh reality.. in essence, he had asked his wife to have an abortion, since they had six daughters to care for. In tears he related how his wife had just given birth to their only son!.  Good decisions end well, and together they prayed for the existence of the counseling center, and Gods gift of a baby boy.

Iganga reaches out to those seeking an abortion, and provides aid to those who struggle after giving birth to a child. Parenting education, and childcare often lead a family to finding sustainable income. Since finances are the leading cause of abortion, this is a wonderful resource. David invites all those with a heart for life, to join him. If you are considering a mission to Uganda, please contact me.

If you would like to help Iganga advance their efforts, please donate here via Pay Pal.

If you would like to make your support direct, by using Western Union.

  1. Select Uganda as the destination, and send to David Kisaame

Your support is needed, and appricaited!

Thank you 🙂

Lest We Forget MLK Jr.

non-violence-1158316_1920

I would like to ask those who do not enjoy color,to close their eyes and imagine a world without it..

White skies and trees, white birds that never sing differently.. This world would be an awful place, if we were all one Race. Color is beauty, let us celebrate love and diversity..

Dr. King once said that we all have to decide whether we “will walk in the light of creative altruism or the darkness of destructive selfishness. Life’s most persistent and nagging question, he said, is `what are you doing for others?’” he would quote Mark 9:35, the scripture in which Jesus of Nazareth tells James and John “…whosoever will be great among you shall be your servant; and whosoever among you will be the first shall be the servant of all.” And when Martin talked about the end of his mortal life in one of his last sermons, on February 4, 1968 in the pulpit of Ebenezer Baptist Church, even then he lifted up the value of service as the hallmark of a full life. “I’d like somebody to mention on that day Martin Luther King, Jr. tried to give his life serving others,” he said. “I want you to say on that day, that I did try in my life…to love and serve humanity. {1}

The Hope Of Glory

door_6978cp

Although I can not recall his name, I will never forget the story of how a homeless man found a new home built on a rock!
While digging through a trash can hoping to find a snack,he found the bread of life!.
Someone threw truth to the wind, and this man found hope during one of the lowest points in his life.
In the trash that day he found a crumpled piece of paper that explained the gospel, and he gave his heart to Jesus Christ. Jesus welcomed this new man into His kingdom, his dirty deeds and filthy rags.. were washed clean. Romans 10:9-13

I am not ashamed of the gospel but I am not social, tracts make it easier for me to share new hope with a stranger. I offer tracts and nine out of ten times they are rejected, but we never know what will become of one planted seed. Although I do not celebrate Halloween, some Christians do.. slipping a children’s tract in a bag of candy, wouldn’t be a trick.. it would be a treat!

bindbrokenhearted-webheader-1000-1-720x340

Chaplain John McTernan, was inspired to write a book, it was to be named Jesus Christ Came To Heal The Broken Hearted. Based on Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised”

John wanted to share the healing he had encountered, and his transformation. In prayer the Lord told him not to write a book, but to share the message in a tract. In obedience he wrote the message of hope and healing to those struggling with a broken heart, and who can mend it. This tract has now been translated into several languages, and India can not keep up with printing demands. John’s obedience to God, has led to salvation for countless souls!

When we share the Gospel we can only hope that one will receive it. Jesus said;
“No man can come to me, except the Father which has sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day” ~ John 6:44.. so maybe we can give them a little push.

christian-1316208_1280We encounter the lost on a daily basis, their eyes are blind to the truth of who holds the meaning of life.
They visit doctors, fortune tellers, shamans, and Guru’s.. searching for peace within. They take potions to numb the emotions, and still can not find peace. Without Jesus Christ there is only a mirage of peace, or a false sense of pleasure. Jesus offers true peace within, that no man or money can bring. “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you: not as the world gives, give I to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”. ~  John 14:27

996186_455868171170277_431376358_nJesus is the answer to problems, if your heart and mind is closed to the gospel, he can not help you.
When all else has failed to bring you peace, try to put aside your stubborn pride and research this man called Jesus, discover how He has been there to lift so many out of despair. He truly is The Hope Of Glory!
